Kaloy Sanchez graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (majoring in Studio Arts) from University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City in 2006. As part of the new generation of figurative painters, his work probes alienation and human needs. These universal feelings trigger haunting memories as well as
experiences of longing, and anxieties, which are common throughout society. Using an expressive painterly vocabulary that echoes the work of Lucien Freud and the psychological drama of Egon Schiele, Sanchez presents dream like sequences and sensitively realised figurative portraits.
